The Hope Altar is a performative installation first created in 2022 by Madison Jolliffe and Tery Žeželj with Utopia Syndicate, a collective that researches and investigates potentials for alternative futures that emerge from practices of new-hope and care.

The altar is a collection of visitor’s hopes for the future, represented by an object that gets added to this growing archive. The latest presentation was part of Het Huis Utrecht’s program “Mourning Rage” which examined hope within the Dutch artistic landscape amongst funding cuts.
